This beginning class consists of tap and ballet (weekly), with occasional tumbling. Children are introduced to basic terminology and positions of the feet, hands, and body.

BALLET (ages 5 & up)

Ballet is the cornerstone of all dance styles. It teaches proper placement, balance, alignment, technique and control. Classes focus on barre work, center exercises, terminology, and body positioning.

Pointe, for the experienced ballet student, is the advancement of ballet class to hard-toed pointe shoes. Dancing on pointe is the act of standing on the tips of the toes while performing ballet steps, and requires strength and skill. This class is available by teacher recommendation only, and depends on the dancer's level of technique and rate of progress.

POINTE (by teacher recommendation)

TAP (ages 5 & up)

Tap is an exciting form of dance in which dancers wear special shoes equipped with metal taps. Dancers use their feet to create sound, rhythmic patterns and timely beats. As students progress, increasing emphasis will be placed on clarity of sounds, speed, intricacy, precision and execution of movement.  It is strongly recommended, but not required, to take ballet class to complement tap training.

JAZZ (ages 5 & up)

Jazz is an energetic style of theatrical dancing, combining a variety of styles of dance with latest dance trends. Jazz dance has a firm technique and strength base, allowing for individualized movement. Jazz is a great form of dance for any age, developing strength and flexibility.

Lyrical is a combination of ballet, jazz, and modern, or contemporary dance techniques. It combines many of the technical elements of ballet with the lighter aspects of jazz and modern dance. Lyrical dance is expressive, simultaneously subtle and dynamic, focused on conveying musicality and emotion through movement. It inspires dancers to use movement to interpret music and express emotion.

LYRICAL (ages 7 & up)

ACRO (ages 5 & up)

Acro combines classical dance technique with precision acrobatic elements. Dancers learn basic tumbling skills, taught in a progressive method. Students are grouped according to age and ability.

HIP HOP (ages 5 & up)

Hip Hop is a style of dance that incorporates street dance using up-beat, hip hop music. This class teaches rhythm, coordination, and age-appropriate choreography. Dancers will learn to exercise body control, movement, flexibility and rhythm (with no suggestive lyrics or movement).
